Ex-AAU VC Agbebaku dies at 55

The first female Vice Chancellor of the Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Prof. Cordelia Agbebaku, is dead.
Agbebaku, who was the immediate past vice chancellor of the institution, reportedly died at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH) at the age of 55.
The ex- VC reportedly died of cancer.
The Public Relations Officer of AAU, Edward Aihevba, confirmed the don’s demise and said the university community was in shock.
He said, “Yes, we heard the news very late yesterday (Thursday) and it has been confirmed to be true. The whole thing has left the university in shock and everybody is downcast.
“A delegation, led by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ignatius Animawo, has paid a visit to the family of the deceased. We will soon come out with a statement.
Prof. Agbebaku was born in 1961. Before her appointment as the VC, she was the Dean of Faculty of Law at the university.
She served as vice chancellor in acting capacity before former Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole, ratified her appointment in February 2014.
